Does IDing & Opening Chests Increase Chances Of Salvage
There was a huge argument in alliance chat over whether opening chests and iding golds increases your chances of a successful salvage.
Apparently each rank in each of the titles increases the chance of a successful salvage by 3%. Is this correct? |

By each tier of the title for both titles yes. For example, if Player A has the first tier of both titles, he/she gets 56%.

K thanks. didnt think anet would do such a thing considering this clearly benefits those who are rich/can grind over casual players. maybe anet should have left golds alone then. *shrugs* anet baffle me sometimes

To make things perfectly clear : the titles only increase the chance of the original item NOT being destroyed by the salvaging process. The chance of getting the mod out of it is always 100%, regardless of titles.

If you have played Guild Wars since the start of the Prophecies launch and not 'wasted' your gold on 'trivial' things, then you too could be deemed 'rich'. It is not hard to get a modest amount of gold in Guild Wars (SECRET OF A PROPEROUS LIFE: The rich are rich, because they dont spend it). Also ''casual player v grinder'' - Should not someone who plays a lot, get a lot. If you put the hours in, you should get something out - A hard day's graft, for a hard day's wage - That is only right and fair. There are far too many people who want something for nothing in this game. Last edited by Dana Hawkeye; Mar 18, 2007 at 03:07 AM // 03:07.. |

The point I was trying to make was why have they added something which benefits clearly the rich when Anet have had in the past a negative attitude towards those with wealth i.e. adding inscriptions, inscreasing gold drop rate etc. That is why it supprised me to hear of Anet adding such a feature. Of course this is all off topic now and if a mod will close this that will be great as my question has been answered Last edited by The Herbalizer; Mar 18, 2007 at 03:35 AM // 03:35.. |

Herbaliser - Have you considered, that by 'adding' a 3% bonus to each level of Treasure Hunter and Wisdom titles, actually makes those titles a bit more useful to you as a player as opposed to being just a bragging right.
FALSE: You have to be rich or a grinder to have the 3% benefit. If you play the game 'normally' you will get the titles and therefore the 3% bonuses eventually. BTW: What's the point of 'stacks of ectos'? Its not like you are going to buy the 'nuked' village of Ashford in Chapter 4, re-develop it and sell it for 10 times what its worth in a property boom? Rank Title Rare items identified: Salvage Bonus increase 1 Seeker of Wisdom 100 3% 2 Collector of Wisdom 250 6% 3 Devotee of Wisdom 550 9% 4 Devourer of Wisdom 1,200 12% 5 Font of Wisdom 2,500 15% 6 Oracle of Wisdom 5,000 18% 7 Source of Wisdom (Max level) 10,000 21% No way in hell could a casual player get 10,000 id's. Therefore those with max level wisdom title do get an advantage over those without. I just seemed suprised anet would do this. Stacks of ecto buy fow armour and nice weapons. Please no more off topic posts as my question has been answered. |

Give Herbalizer a break will ya'll? She isn't here to debate the rich/poor thing. She asked a simple question, had it answered. I'm a semi casual player, and I am a bit tight with my money. I wouldn't say I'm the Bill Gates of GW, but I do have my wealth. No, not multimillionare, more like wealthy enough to make it. Herbalizer, I don't know if you know about the buried treasures, do not touch chests. They are a good way of get something for nothing more than your time to do it. I love them. I go treasure hunting every time they get reset. You get a guaranteed gold drop and gold coins. Just a fyi.

I kind of agree with Herbalizer in the sense that, why did they make 10k ID's so impossible for the casual player.
The same argument could go for the same casual player that was able to go to certain arenas and get exploration titles. Compared to the person that wasn't able to because they were past that point. Anet just likes to throw us curveballs once in a while. But i think the titles are fine. Maxing them is a pain, but all in good time. |
